Each quarter, we prioritize attending events in the Triangle area of North Carolina to connect with our clients, friends, and the broader community. Last quarter we got to participate in a number of wonderful events including RALEIGH TOMORROW, and the Smart Cities Connect Conference where we launched JARVIS, our AI-powered City App Generator for the first time!
Smart Cities Connect Conference + Expo
The Smart Cities Connect series rotates each Spring and Fall to different locations to showcase smart city innovations and development in tech-forward regions. The 2024 Spring conference was held in Raleigh, North Carolina this year, a testament to the City of Raleigh’s, and more broadly, the Triangle region’s commitment to utilize technology alongside our neighboring cities to make city and region-wide improvements.
The SCC website states, “Smart Cities Connect is where the smart cities community meets. We provide meaningful content and connect a thoughtful community of decision-makers to empower smart cities at all stages of growth.”
RALEIGH TOMORROW
RALEIGH TOMORROW was an immersive technology event held by City of Raleigh’s, City Connect Series. The aim of the event was to offer “an exciting exploration of technology and the future”. The event brought together innovative speakers and interactive displays from city departments and local companies for the public to interact and engage with, including:
What’s JARVIS?
We created JARVIS to demonstrate the power of a custom AI tool and how it could be applied in different settings. For both the SCC and RALEIGH TOMORROW events, we created a new use case for JARVIS that was tailored to the audience that visited our booth and engaged with the product.
Fun fact: Jarvis is named after Tony Stark's AI assistant, J.A.R.V.I.S. in Iron Man.
JARVIS X SCC
For the Smart Cities Connect Conference + Expo as an interactive, AI-powered City App generator. JARVIS demonstrated what a municipal app could look and feel like if someone chose to work with Lithios to build a custom software solution for their city.
We envisioned JARVIS being a fantastic way to offer that “wow” factor we hoped would ignite curiosity in SCC attendees, and ultimately lead to opportunities for Lithios to build more software solutions like the Town of Morrisville’s Morrisville Central, and the utilities app we built for the City of Wilson.
SCC attendees simply scanned a QR code, providing their name and a city of their choosing via their mobile device. JARVIS then pulled the city logo, colors, and upcoming events directly from the selected city's website, inputting the elements into an individualized, interactive city app demo that users could access and engage with on their phones.
The Town of Morrisville is just one of the municipalities in the area that Lithios has teamed up with to create intuitive, citizen-facing, smart technology. They've gone above and beyond to create an incredible experience for Morrisville residents, businesses and visitors alike. Read more about the Morrisville project in our recent blog, Morrisville Central: A Beacon of Smart City Innovation.
JARVIS X RALEIGH TOMORROW
Thanks to our friends at the City of Raleigh who loved our JARVIS demo at the SCC event, we were also invited to demo at the City Connect Series: RALEIGH TOMORROW event where we took JARVIS from an AI-Powered Smart City App generator to a family-friendly, AI-Powered Superhero generator.
Similarly to the SCC version of JARVIS, event attendees scanned a QR code and typed their Superhero’s name, as well as their preferred superpower(s) and their own name on their mobile device. JARVIS then used the input information to create and display a custom, comic-book-style Superhero both on the booth monitor and on the attendee’s mobile device.
Other Great Triangle-Based Events
Even though we didn’t get to showcase JARVIS at all of the events we went to over the last quarter, we still wanted to shout out Innovate Raleigh and Grep-a-palooza for being noteworthy events in the Triangle.
Innovate Raleigh is an annual event hosted by the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce for entrepreneurs, business leaders and community members which features inspiring stories and focuses on creative solutions to solve our region's challenges.
Grep-a-palooza is an annual event hosted by GrepBeat focused on early-stage technology startups in the Triangle of North Carolina with panels, keynote speakers and plenty of networking opportunities!
If you didn’t make it out to these events last quarter, be sure to put them on your calendar for next year (and keep your eye out for more JARVIS sightings)!
